the commission process

Alongside my bespoke work, I design and weave custom pieces for private clients. These can take many forms, such as traditional wall-hangings or rugs.

The commission process is a collaborative one. We will work closely, talking through ideas and concepts as well as size, budget and timescale; a site visit can be very helpful. We will share sketch designs and woven samples, and agree on a design. It is wonderful to watch a tapestry grow on the loom – clients receive regular updates and are welcome to visit the studio during the weaving process.

TIMESCALE AND COST

The weaving time and cost of a tapestry will depend on its size and complexity. As a general guide, prices usually start at £200 per square foot and a square metre is likely to take 6-10 weeks of weaving time. Weaving is an intricate process and each piece is work of love and care, an investment and an heirloom for generations to come.
