murmurations series

A murmuration is a collection of thousands of starlings that swoop and swirl across the sky in beautiful shape-shifting clouds.

At sunset in the autumn and winter, flocks of starlings come together across Cornwall and – at some secret signal – they take to the heavens in a mesmerising aerial display. This phenomenon is named after the noise made by the thousands of flapping wings, like heartbeats in synchronised flight.
